- How come I don't see many Vipers on the road? Vipers are a limited production automobile. On average, only 1400 are made per year.
- What classification do Vipers fit in? They are considered an Exotic Sports Car. Some classify it as a Muscle Car.
- How much does a Viper cost? Current cost is about $85,000 - $105,000, depending on model. Used Vipers are available from about $30,000 on up.
- What models and options are available for a Viper?
Models include the Roadster (convertible), Coupe, "1:33" Special
Edition, "Voodoo" Special Edition, ACR-X (off road only), and Track Day
Special (off road only). Options include color, stripes, ACR
package, wheels, GPS/Navigation System, premium sound system, etc.
Most of the "options" normally associated with American car
brands are standard on the Viper.
- What about colors?
There are more colors than ever currently available. For
2010, choices include: White, Silver, Graphite, Black, Viper Red,
Bright Orange, Toxic Orange, Viper Race Yellow, Snakeskin Green,
Anaconda Green, GTS Blue, and Bright Blue. Stripe colors include
Red, White, Blue, Silver, Graphite, and Black. While not every
color combination is available, in 2009 fully 41% of all Vipers ordered
were 1 of 1 when colors and major options were taken into account.
- What is the Viper Club of America (VCA)?
The VCA is a club dedicated to Viper owners. We are setup with a
National VCA organizing group, and inidividual regional VCA groups to
deliver the goods at the local level. The
Viper Club of America, Washington Region is the local club for the
State of Washington, and has members from Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska, Montana, Idaho, Nevada,
Arizona, and Florida. The National VCA sponsors events like
the bi-annual Viper Owners Invitational, various regional events, and
the national and regional web forums. Our local
club (WAVCA) sponsors an annual Dyno Day, multiple auto-cross events,
an annual holiday party, and participates in a various parades, car
shows, and drives throughout Washington. In addition, the VCA is
your very best source for information, referrals, parts, and services
for your Viper.
- When did they start making Vipers - Production started in 1992. The number of units per year varies and averages about 1400 per year.
- How much horsepower does a viper have?
Current models have an 8.4 liter V-10 and are rated at 600 hp.
Previous models have come with factory ratings of 505hp, 450hp,
and 400hp. All are V-10 gasoline engines. For those who
prefer more than that, or just like to customize, there are numerous
aftermarket parts suppliers, and specialty manufacturers such as
Paxton, Roe, DC Performance, and Hennessey make supercharger or twin
turbocharger kits for really big horsepower.
- How fast are Vipers? Stock, they have a top speed of over 200 mph for the latest models. They go from 0 to 60 in less than 4 seconds.
There is an after market add on by Hennessey Performance (Venom
Viper) with a 1000 hp twin turbo that has a top speed of 245 mph and
goes 0 to 60 in 2.2 seconds.
- Can I get a Viper with an automatic transmission? No, they only come with a six speed manual transmission.
- How many Vipers are in Washington State? At one count, there were 288 registered Vipers in Washington State, although it constantly varies.
- Are Vipers Hand Made?
They are hand assembled - that would be a better description.
Viper components (about 50) are made at various plants and sent
to the Viper Assembly building (Conner Avenue Assembly facility) where
they are hand assembled by very skilled UAW workers (no robots). These workers have over 300 hours of specialty training, and produce the finest car made in America.
