Welcome to the new WA VCA Video Gallery!  We are working on numerous upgrades to better show the rich experience of owning and driving a Viper in Washington.  Please bear with us as this site continues to evolve.

Some of the videos here are High Definition (1920x1080, aka 1080p HD), and thus suitable only for extremely high-end personal computers.  They take a *long* time to download, and won't run on most computers, but if you've got the horsepower under the hood – Wow!  We use the standard .m2ts video format and AC3 2-ch digital audio for these files.

Other videos are "medium" resolution (1280x720, aka 720p HD), and suitable for most Windows and Mac PCs that are reasonably modern, desktop machines.   Note that this resolution is still High Definition by any measure.  We are experimenting with various video formats to deliver the best compromise of size, playability, and video and audio fidelity.  Many of these files are Makarov format (MKV), which is a very new format using the HD standard H.264 codec and mp3 audio, but in a slimmer package.

Most laptops and older machines lack the high speed video hardware and dedicated audio hardware to run anything but the lowest resolution videos (720x480 or less).  So, if this describes the machine you're running, go straight for the low end, and save yourself time and frustration.  They download faster, and will play better on your machine.  You may still be pleasantly surprised at how well they look, since these really aren't low resolution at all - only when compared to HD.  Again, we are experimenting with video formats at this level, and you will find that most of these are MPEG2 format, with mp2 audio.

Note that most commercial web sites publish at 320x240 video resolution (super-low?) with low-res mono audio.  Some, like YouTube, have a "High Quality" option that they're testing at 720x480.  In typical Viper fashion, we've blown by that like it's standing still!

Many people will find that they need a more capable video player to play the higher resolution videos.  We've looked at quite a few, and recommend VLC.  It's free, fast, small, and easy to download, install, and use.  So please consider installing VLC, and enjoy the ride!

VLC, from VideoLAN – Click here to download this free, high-performance, lightweight video player from VideoLAN.  This player can play all modern video file formats, is small and simple to download and install, and works extremely well.
